A Teacher-Mom’s Guide to Spring Break with Kids in Chattanooga

If you’re a teacher with young kids, spring break can feel a little … complicated.

Yes, you finally get a break from lesson plans, grading, and the daily school routine. But suddenly you're also responsible for planning a full week of activities for your kids—while secretly hoping for at least a little time to recharge yourself.

We know this feeling well.

Both of us, the co-owners of FIT4MOM Chattanooga, are former teachers. We remember the countdown to spring break, the relief of finally making it there, and the moment you realize: Wait … what am I actually going to do with my kids all week?

Between unpredictable weather, toddler moods, and the mental exhaustion that comes with the school year, planning spring break activities in Chattanooga with kids can feel overwhelming.

So we did what teachers do best.

We made a plan.

This guide gives you a simple structure for your week—starting each day with Spring Break Strong (a free week for teachers!) with FIT4MOM Chattanooga, followed by easy, kid-friendly adventures nearby. That way you get a little movement, a little community, and your kids still get a fun week off.

Monday: Ease Into Spring Break at Veteran’s Park

The first day of spring break shouldn’t feel rushed. After a busy school year, both you and your kids probably need a slow start.

Join us for Spring Break Strong at Veteran’s Park in Soddy-Daisy, where you can move your body while the kids relax in the stroller, snack, or watch everything happening around them. Our stroller workouts are designed for moms—especially those who haven’t had much time for themselves lately.

After class, stick around for playgroup. It’s one of the best parts of our classes because the kids get time to play while moms connect and relax a little longer.

If your crew still has energy, take a short drive to Big Soddy Creek Gulf. The waterfall trail is a local favorite and a great way to spend the rest of the morning outdoors.

Starting spring break with fresh air and movement sets the tone for the whole week.

Tuesday: A Downtown Adventure

By Tuesday, you might be ready for a little outing.

Meet us for Spring Break Strong at Coolidge Park in Chattanooga, one of the most beautiful spots along the river. Outdoor workouts here feel less like exercise and more like time outside with your kids and a group of supportive moms.

Once class ends, you’re already in the perfect spot for a mini downtown adventure.

Start with a ride on the Coolidge Park Carousel, which toddlers and preschoolers absolutely love.

Then head over to the Creative Discovery Museum, one of the best indoor spring break activities in Chattanooga for kids. The hands-on exhibits keep little ones busy while you get a chance to slow down and enjoy watching them explore.

Wednesday: Play, Snacks, and Sunshine in Collegedale

Midweek can be the moment when kids start to get a little restless. That’s why Wednesday’s plan is full of movement and play.

Start your morning with Spring Break Strong at Imagination Station in Collegedale, where you’ll get a great workout and a boost of energy for the rest of the day.

After class, head over to Imagination Station, a playground that’s perfect for toddlers and younger kids.

Once everyone has worked up an appetite, make a quick stop at the Little Debbie Park area and enjoy a simple picnic lunch.

Sometimes the best spring break activities with kids in Chattanooga are the simplest ones: playgrounds, sunshine, and snacks outside.

Thursday: Nature Day at the Riverpark

By Thursday, getting outside can feel like the best reset for everyone.

Join us for Spring Break Strong along the Tennessee Riverpark at the Bug Walk, where the views and fresh air make the workout fly by.

Plus, we have a special guest joining us after class to talk about all things pelvic floor!

After class, turn the morning into a little adventure. Let the kids play on the unique Bug Walk play structures while you chat with your new mom friends.

Later in the day, you can head downtown for Toddler Time at the Chattanooga Public Library. Story time and playtime make for a perfect calm break after a busy morning.

Friday: Finish the Week Strong

By Friday, you’ve officially made it through the week—and hopefully enjoyed some moments to recharge along the way.

Celebrate with one more Spring Break Strong class at the Tennessee Riverpark by the playgrounds. And we’re celebrating the end of the week with an ice cream truck!

After class, let the kids explore the playgrounds along the park before finishing the week with a visit to the Chattanooga Zoo.

For many families, the zoo is a spring break tradition and one of the most popular things to do with kids in Chattanooga during spring break.

When Spring Break Plans Change (Because They Always Do)

PLAYGROUNDS

Chattanooga is home to some amazing playgrounds. Besides our class locations, we love Vandergriff Park, Chester Frost Park, and Riverview Park to name a few!

Sometimes letting kids run free for an hour is the best activity of all.

NATURE WALKS

Short outdoor adventures are great for resetting everyone’s mood. Local favorites include Big Soddy Creek Gulf, the TN Riverwalk trails, and the greenway in Collegedale.

PICNIC DAYS

If the weather cooperates, pack lunch and head to a park. Kids love the novelty of eating outside, and it requires almost no planning.

Spring Break Can Be Fun for Moms, Too

As teachers, we know spring break is often when you finally exhale after months of giving your energy to your students.

But we also know that when you’re home with young kids, it doesn’t always feel like a break.

That’s exactly why we created Spring Break Strong at FIT4MOM Chattanooga—a chance for teacher-moms to move their bodies, connect with other moms, and start the day with something just for themselves.

Because when you take some time for yourself, the rest of the day feels a little easier for everyone.

And honestly, that might be the best spring break plan of all.
