1. Tennessee Riverwalk

Location: Multiple access points throughout Chattanooga

Best for: Long walks, running, and beautiful river views

If you're looking for a go-to stroller-friendly route in Chattanooga, the Tennessee Riverwalk is hard to beat! This paved greenway stretches along the Tennessee River, offering miles of scenic paths for walking, running, and biking.

There are several convenient access points, but some of our favorites are:

  • Chickamauga Dam (click here for directions): A great place to start your adventure along the river.

  • Hubert Fry Center (click here for directions): A convenient access point with parking and restroom facilities.

  • Ross' Landing (click here for directions): Located downtown, with paid parking nearby.

  • Blue Goose Hollow (click here for directions): Another convenient downtown access point along the Riverwalk.

One of the best parts? These access points offer restroom facilities, which can be especially helpful when you're out with little ones!

Whether you're looking for a quick out-and-back or a longer run, the Riverwalk offers plenty of opportunities to customize your route.

Come find us at TN Riverpark! We meet every Wednesday at 9:30 AM for our Strides 360 class followed by playgroup at the Hubert Fry Center. Get a workout in, let the little ones enjoy a playgroup and playground time, and connect with other Chattanooga moms. We'd love to have you join us!

2. Coolidge Park

Location: North Chattanooga

Best for: Families, shorter runs, and river views

Coolidge Park is one of our favorite places to get outside with kids! Between the open green spaces, beautiful river views, fountains in the spring and summer, carousel year round, and easy access to the Tennessee Riverwalk, it's a great starting point for a family walk or run.

You can get approximately two miles in between Coolidge Park and Renaissance Park, with several options for extending your route.

From Coolidge Park, you can connect to the Riverwalk by crossing the Walnut Street Bridge (now open!) or you can also follow nearby sidewalks to access the new Moccasin Bend Connector Greenway.

Coolidge Park has restroom facilities, and there is paid parking nearby.

Come work out with us at Coolidge Park! We offer two mornings of stroller-friendly classes each week:

  • Tuesdays at 9:30 AM: Stroller Barre, followed by a read aloud.

  • Thursdays at 9:30 AM: Stroller Strides, followed by playgroup.

Our classes combine a full-body workout with plenty of opportunities to connect with other moms. Bring your little ones, enjoy the fresh air, and let us take care of your workout planning and post-workout fun for the kiddos!

Looking for a newer trail to explore? The Moccasin Bend Connector Greenway is one of Chattanooga's newest paved trail additions!

This approximately 1.5-mile paved greenway runs along Hamm Road and Manufacturers Road. You can start at Renaissance Park and follow the trail out and back, making it a great option for a shorter walk or run.

If you're looking to explore somewhere a little different while still enjoying a paved path, add this one to your list!

The park features an approximately two-mile loop around its large soccer and softball complex. It's a nice option for getting some steps in while enjoying the open space and watching the activity around the fields.

Camp Jordan also connects to the South Chickamauga Greenway, although that connection may be affected by ongoing construction. Check current trail access before planning your route.

This beautiful, fenced-in park has staffed rangers and an abundance of shaded trails. It's a wonderful place to enjoy the trees, take in the scenery, and spend some time outdoors with your family. It’s also home to one of Chattanooga’s newest playgrounds, Wildwood Playscape.

One thing to keep in mind: The trails have quite a few hills, so this may be more of a challenge if you're pushing a stroller, especially a heavier jogging stroller.

If you're willing to venture just outside Chattanooga, check out the Chief Richard Taylor Nature Trail in Ringgold!

This wooded trail follows along Chickamauga Creek and offers a peaceful setting surrounded by trees. It's relatively flat and approximately two miles long, making it a nice option for a relaxed walk.

It's a great spot to slow down, enjoy nature, and get some fresh air with your little ones.
