The Best Parks Around Chattanooga for Babies, Toddlers & Preschoolers

One of the best things about raising kids in Chattanooga is that there is always somewhere to play. Whether you're looking for a playground that will wear out your toddler before naptime, a stroller-friendly walking path, a splash pad, or just a place to meet up with friends, Chattanooga has no shortage of great options.

To make planning your next adventure easier, we've rounded up our favorite parks by area.

And if you're looking for even more summer fun, be sure to check out our guides to Chattanooga's best splash pads and indoor playgrounds, too!

Northshore + Downtown

If you love being close to coffee shops, restaurants, and river views, these parks are hard to beat:

  • Coolidge Park
  • Riverview Playground
  • Riverfront Playground

1. COOLIDGE PARK

📍 150 River St, Chattanooga, TN 37405

Mom Tip: There are some free parking spots underneath the Market Street Bridge. Bring scooters, balance bikes, or a ball to kick around in the open field. During the summer, the fountains are a must, so pack swimsuits and towels. Your kiddos will also want to hit up the carousel 1, 2, 3, or 100 times - so bring some cash for that, too!

Come Play With Us: This is such a great park that we meet here 2-3 times a week for workouts, playgroups, and interactive read alouds. Join us for a free class or at our upcoming splash pad social at the fountains!

2. RIVERVIEW PLAYGROUND

📍 1857 Riverview Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37405

Mom Tip: This is in a residential area, so parking can be tricky. Pack a picnic lunch (or pick something up for take out nearby!) and plan to stay awhile. This newly remodeled playground has lots to explore, plus there’s a pavilion with a bunch of picnic tables that you can eat your lunch in while your kiddos run in the open field. If you're looking to turn it into a full morning outing, pair your playground visit with story time at The Book & Cover.

3. RIVERFRONT PLAYGROUND

📍 201 Riverfront Pkwy, Chattanooga, TN 37402

Mom Tip: Make a full day of it! Let the kids play, then walk further down the Tennessee Riverwalk to Ross's Landing and enjoy the riverfront while your kiddos play in the water. One thing to note: this playground is close to a busy road, so it's a park where you'll want to keep a close eye on little runners.

Come Play With Us: We’ll be at Ross’s Landing for a splash pad social - you can check out the playground before or after the meetup.

IF YOU ONLY VISIT ONE, MAKE IT COOLIDGE PARK

Between the pathways, carousel, fountains, river views, and open space, it's the park we'd recommend first to anyone new to Chattanooga for the classic experience.

Riverwalk & East Chattanooga

If your kids love exploring, scootering, biking, or spotting wildlife, this area is packed with options:

  • Tennessee Riverpark Playgrounds
  • Tennessee Riverpark Bug Walk
  • Chickamauga Dam Playground

1. TENNESSEE RIVERPARK PLAYGROUNDS

📍 4301 Amnicola Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37406, United States

Mom Tip: One of our favorite things about the Riverpark playgrounds is that there are two separate playground areas designed for different age groups, making it easier to keep both toddlers and bigger kids happy. There are also large open fields for running, plenty of shady spots, pavilions for snack breaks, and pathways that are perfect for scooters and balance bikes. Don't forget to wander down and check out the water while you're there!

2. TENNESSEE RIVERPARK BUG WALK

📍 3716-3726 Amnicola Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37406, United States

Mom Tip: This one feels like a hidden gem. Park at the Amnicola Trailhead and bring your scooter, balance bike, or stroller. Follow the path toward the river and you'll discover giant bug sculptures and several themed playgrounds along the way. The journey is half the fun, making it feel more like an adventure than a typical park visit.

3. CHICKAMAUGA DAM PLAYGROUND

📍 3020 Kings Point Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37416

Mom Tip: A playground and a beach in one spot? What more could you ask for? The location is convenient from just about anywhere in Chattanooga, making it a great place to meet up with friends. Pack sand toys, snacks, and a change of clothes because chances are your kiddos will want to stay awhile.

Come Play With Us! We're headed to Chickamauga Dam for a Camp FIT4MOM Field Trip Friday this summer - join us.

IF YOU ONLY VISIT ONE, MAKE IT THE TENNESSEE RIVERPARK BUG WALK

The giant bug-themed playgrounds, river views, open green space, and scooter-friendly paths make this one of the most unique family adventures in Chattanooga. It feels like you've discovered a secret spot that not everyone knows about.

Hixson, Soddy Daisy & Signal Mountain

From beach days to giant playgrounds, this side of town has something for everyone:

  • Chester Frost Park
  • Vandergriff Park
  • Veterans Park
  • Pumpkin Patch Playground

1. CHESTER FROST PARK

📍 7872 Causeway Rd, Hixson, TN 37343

Mom Tip: If you're looking for a park that checks all the boxes, Chester Frost is hard to beat. You'll find a playground, sand, swimming areas, picnic pavilions, plenty of parking, and some of the prettiest lake views in the Chattanooga area. It's especially beautiful in the fall, but it's a favorite year-round. Pack a picnic lunch and plan to stay awhile!

Come Play With Us! Join us on any Wednesday for Stroller Barre followed by a read-aloud activity for the kiddos. Your first class is free!

2. VANDERGRIFF PARK

📍 1050 Vandergriff Dr, Hixson, TN 37343

Mom Tip: Not one. Not two. Three playgrounds in one park! Vandergriff is a dream for families with multiple kids because there's something for everyone. There's also a picnic pavilion and a wraparound trail that's perfect for scooters, bikes, and balance bikes. Our biggest tip? Go early. The playground isn't very shaded, and it can get hot quickly during the summer months.

3. VETERANS PARK

📍 9658 Leyland Dr, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379

Mom Tip: Veterans Park is a great all-around option when you need space. Between the playground, open fields, and pavilions, there's plenty of room for kids to run, explore, and burn energy. It's also one of our favorite spots for meeting up with friends because everyone has room to spread out.

Come Play With Us! Join us on Mondays for Stroller Strides followed by playgroup. Your first class is free!

4. PUMPKIN PATCH PLAYGROUND

📍 1836 Taft Hwy, Signal Mountain, TN 37377

Mom Tip: If you're new to Chattanooga, the name can be confusing—this isn't actually a pumpkin patch! It's a playground that does an incredible job of incorporating the natural landscape into the play experience. Kids can explore, climb, and play in a setting that feels a little different from your typical neighborhood playground. Parking is limited, so arriving early is your best bet.

IF YOU ONLY VISIT ONE, MAKE IT CHESTER FROST PARK

A playground, beach, swimming area, picnic spots, gorgeous lake views, and enough space to spend an entire morning outdoors? Chester Frost gets our vote every time.

Ooltewah, Collegedale & Enterprise South

These parks are worth the drive no matter where you live in Chattanooga:

  • Imagination Station
  • Heritage Park
  • Wildwood Playscape

1. IMAGINATION STATION

📍 4408 Apison Pike, Collegedale, TN 37363

Mom Tip: There is a reason Chattanooga moms recommend this playground over and over again. With newly renovated play areas, plenty of equipment for a variety of ages, and lots of room to explore, it's easy to spend an entire morning here. Parking can fill up quickly, especially during busy times, so plan to arrive early. If you're looking to extend your outing, head over to the Katie Lamb Public Library afterward.

Come Play With Us! Join us here on Wednesdays for Stroller Barre followed by a playgroup - your first class is free!

2. HERITAGE PARK

📍 1428 Jenkins Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421

Mom Tip: Heritage Park is one of those parks that has a little bit of everything. There's a playground, a paved wraparound trail that's great for scooters and strollers, and one of the biggest kid favorites—a creek for splashing and exploring. Pack water shoes and a change of clothes if your kiddos can't resist getting wet (and let's be honest, they probably can't).

3. WILDWOOD PLAYSCAPE AT ENTERPRISE SOUTH

📍 190 Still Hollow Loop, Chattanooga, TN 37416

Mom Tip: Chattanooga's newest playground is unlike most others in the area. Designed to blend into the natural surroundings, Wildwood Playscape encourages climbing, exploring, balancing, and imaginative play. Bring water, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes, and be prepared for your kids to get a little dirty while they adventure.

Come Play With Us! We'll be visiting Wildwood Playscape for a Camp FIT4MOM Field Trip Friday this summer - join us.

IF YOU ONLY VISIT ONE, MAKE IT IMAGINATION STATION

If you're looking for a playground that can entertain toddlers, preschoolers, and bigger kids all at the same time, this is it. The newly updated play areas and variety of equipment make it one of the most beloved playgrounds in the Chattanooga area.

South Chattanooga

While this section may only have one park on our list, it's a good one.

1. Warner Park Playground

📍 1000 E 3rd St, Chattanooga, TN 37403

Mom Tip: Warner Park is one of our favorite spots because there's so much to do in one area. The playground is great for a wide range of ages, the Warner Park Pool is right next door for hot summer days, and the Chattanooga Zoo is just a short walk away. If you're looking for a place where you can easily spend an entire morning—or even the whole day—this is it.

Come Play With Us! Join us for a Camp FIT4MOM Splash Pad Social on June 9 and Field Trip Friday on July 17.

Worth the Drive

Some parks are so good they're worth packing extra snacks, loading up the stroller, and making the drive. These are a few of our favorite destinations outside of Chattanooga:

  • Jim Sharp Park
  • Deer Park
  • Pendergrass Park

1. JIM SHARP PARK

📍 1000 Keith St NW, Cleveland, TN 37311

Mom Tip: Jim Sharp Park offers a little bit of everything. The playground is a favorite, but don't miss the large grassy areas that are perfect for running, kicking a ball, or having a picnic lunch. The trampoline squares are a unique feature that always seem to be a hit with kids who still have energy to burn after the playground.

2. DEER PARK

📍 300 Deer Park Dr NW, Cleveland, TN 37312

Mom Tip: Tucked into a residential neighborhood, Deer Park feels like a hidden gem. There are multiple play structures, pavilions for shade and snack breaks, and plenty of room for kids to spread out and play. It's the kind of park where you can settle in for the morning and let the kids explore.

3. PENDERGRASS PLAYGROUND & SPLASH PAD

📍 110 Main St, Dayton, TN 37321

Mom Tip: If you're looking for a summer adventure, this one is worth the drive. Pendergrass Park features two playgrounds, a splash pad, pavilions, and plenty of space to play. Before you head home, make sure to stop by the Little Free Library just outside the park. One important tip: keep shoes handy! The playground surface can get hot when little feet are running back and forth between the splash pad and play structures. The park includes separate play areas for younger and older children, a splash pad, pavilions, and restrooms.

Come Play With Us! Join us on June 15 for a Camp FIT4MOM Splash Pad Social at Dayton Pendergrass Playground & Splash Pad.

IF YOU ONLY VISIT ONE, MAKE IT PENDERGRASS PARK

Two playgrounds, a splash pad, pavilions, and a Little Free Library make this one of our favorite summer destinations. If you're looking to turn a playground trip into an adventure, this is the place to do it.
